The Elton John AIDS Foundation has awarded funding for an ambitious 18-month project aimed at enhancing the delivery and uptake of PrEP across multiple NHS Trusts in Liverpool, West Sussex, and Brighton. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team that promotes a project that has the potential to shape national policy and improve access to life-changing prevention services.
Main duties of the job
The Assistant Practitioner will function at a higher competency level than that of other Health Care Support workers. They will assist in the identification of health needs and participate in the delivery and evaluation of care interventions developed to meet those needs under the supervision of a Clinical Practitioner.
Specifically, the post holder will be instrumental in delivering a programme of interventions aimed at increasing knowledge and accessibility for Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) to women, individuals from overseas, and other eligible groups of people who would benefit from PrEP as a highly effective means of HIV prevention and Health Promotion.
This post will support the activity and productivity of outreach staff delivering targeted work with vulnerable groups at risk of sexual ill-health with the key aim of promoting the uptake of PrEP amongst women, overseas individuals living in the UK and the principal target groups that Sexual Health Outreach works with:
- Commercial Sex Workers
- Homeless Clients
- Drug Users
- Men who have sex with men
- BMEA communities
- Students and young people
Hours of work will be flexible to include evening and weekends across the axess regional footprint as required.

- Foundation degree in assisting professional practice/equivalent
Experience

- Ability to provide excellent patient care

- Understands the role of audit in assuring standards of care and can undertake audits in practice.
