Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible in approach and efficient individual to join our team. This role will provide administrative support to our Macmillan Specialist Palliative Care team based at Princess Alexandra Hospital Harlow.The successful applicant will be required to undertake a range of duties which include providing administrative support to the nursing and medical team, data collection, organising meetings and conferences, minute taking, liaising with patients, carers and colleagues and maintaining system and processes.The post holder must have the ability to work as part of a Multi-disciplinary team to ensure all relevant communications are carried out in a timely and accurate manner. You would be expected to handle enquiries and requests from patients, carers and staff colleagues confidently and sensitively both in person and by telephone. We are a fast paced environment that requires an adaptable individual who can self-direct.
The post holder will frequently be exposed to detailed and sometimes distressing medical information relating to patients during daily handovers, MDT’s and complaints. It is essential that the post holder is able to deal with the emotional demands of discussing end of life care issues.You must have a good standard of education, good organisational skills and be able to work as part of the team. Competence in MS Office and previous experience of working within the NHS would be an advantage.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for the provision of an efficient personal assistant service to the divisional leadership team He/she will be flexible in their approach to their needs and will be able to work with minimal supervision using their own initiative. The post holder must ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times.
To provide administrative support to the Specialist Palliative and End of Life Care team, consultants and other clinicians to deliver high quality service to our patients and their loved ones. Supporting wards and other departments across the trust working with the end of life and palliative care service with administrative tasks to deliver high quality care.
To support the day to day administration needs of the team with printing, filing, answering calls and email enquiries, booking meetings and managing the diaries of the team.
To efficiently and accurately record data and turn this data into monthly and quarterly reports
