Job Summary

We are looking for a Network Engineer to complement our Infrastructure team. The successful candidate will display an understanding of large scale infrastructure within a high availability Cisco environment.
In addition to the above responsibilities, strong communication skills to include an ability to liaise with technical and non-technical individuals will be key to your success. You will be tasked to manage your own workload and work autonomously while also retaining the ability to work collaboratively with the wider ICT Department.
The post will report directly to the Network Manager, who reports directly to Infrastructure Manager; Full Line-Manager of Network Team; Management of 3rd-party contractors, e.g. Cisco, Block Solutions; Liaison within ICT and any other Departments (e.g. Estates, Facilities) or external agencies.
Main duties of the job
Support and maintenance of the network infrastructure and Data Comm’s Rooms
Network capacity, monitoring and reporting
Adhering to the ICT Infrastructure standards, policies and procedures
Support and maintenance of security within the network infrastructure
Implement approved changes
Schedule and carry-out routine maintenance tasks
Update network infrastructure documents
On-call support

Essential
- Post-graduate or equivalent professional experience
- Demonstrable evidence of CPD (Continuing Professional Development)
- Network qualifications

- IT related degree
Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in an IT related role within an organisation with 2,000+ users
- Operational experience with a Cisco Enterprise Network environment (DNAC, SDA, SDWAN)
- Good understanding of technology and its application to business, including knowledge of LAN, WAN, routing protocols, etc
- Demonstrated specialist knowledge in ICT systems and procedures acquired through a combination of specialist training and experience
Desirable
- Good understanding of NHS operational and Strategic IT strategy
- Knowledge of legislation including (e.g. Freedom of Information Act, Computer Misuse Act, RIP Act, Data Protection Act)
