About the role:
The British Museum is seeking an International Engagement Manager to market and sell, and support development and delivery of the Museum’s programme of international touring exhibitions. The focus will be on the growth of the activity and the opportunity to generate a substantial net contribution for the Museum.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • To market-test and sell the Museum’s international touring exhibitions.
  • To draft and negotiate contracts.
  • To implement the agreed strategies and conduct ongoing assessment of future market potential to ensure long-term growth.
  • To ensure appropriate return on investment is secured and proposals for new projects based on sound market assessment.

About you:

  • Experience of managing a high number of international client relationships and contracts against complex changes and challenging timeframes.
  • Ability to work effectively, diplomatically, and professionally with people from different countries and cultural backgrounds with a sense of tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to balance a business-like approach with a sense of what is appropriate behaviour for a representative of the Museum.
  • Proven track-record of successful financial negotiations and working with complex legal contracts in the international context.
