Overview
We are looking for innovative development engineers to work within our Growth and Pursuits part of the Advanced Technology Organisation based in Cheltenham, UK. In this role you will be responsible for developing system solutions and implementing new technologies which will define our next generation of power and control system products. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team pursuing customer opportunities from early technology engagements to delivering compelling bids and proposals.
Reporting to the Technology Growth and Pursuits Director you will play a significant role in defining the next generation of products for our business. You will be defining the scope and functionality of our new products. You will work closely with R&D and product management teams and customers through the concept development and initial prototype design and verification on technical solutions for our customers. You will work with the technology, business, and strategy leaders to identify market opportunities and define and validate new products concepts. This role will suit someone who is a free-thinking practical problem solver who gains satisfaction from developing new products solutions to customer problems.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop product concepts with consideration to the market, business case and the product life cycle.
- technology planning activities, producing development and management plans as well as project plans or technology roadmap
- Architect technical solutions in response to customer RFI’s and RFP’s
- Work closely with customers as part of a pursuit strategy
- Validate and verify the product concept.
- Design product architectures in conjunction with the systems, hardware, software, mechanical and tools teams.
- Drive alignment of our product and technology plans
- Work across the business, our customers, and suppliers to facilitate successful development and product development and research activities.
- The job may have a level of local and international travel.
Required Qualifications
- As an applications engineer you will have a strong technical background and ability to apply product knowledge to architect solutions to customers needs.
- Experience of working within the aerospace or similar industry, aerospace adjacencies or maritime.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of aircraft system.
- Experience working as a system, hardware, software or safety engineer.
- Security clearance
