Job Purpose

To provide specialist advice, guidance and support in the development and implementation of the College of Medical, Veterinary & Life Sciences postgraduate student recruitment relating to PGT on-campus, PGT online distance learning and PGR programmes contributing towards the research communications strategy.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. To deliver creative and innovative paid lead generation campaigns that enhances engagement, awareness, and development communities to deliver a return on investment with a specific focus on digital marketing communications.

2. Responsible for proactively reviewing and contributing towards recruitment plans throughout the academic cycle, ensuring marketing resources are fully utilised and overseeing changing priorities and student demands.

3. Working closely with the Head of Marketing & Communications to develop effective and evidence-based marketing plans to enable the deliver on activities to support recruitment and research communications.

4. To provide specialist advice, guidance, and support to academic and professional staff across the college on digital marketing (e.g., sourcing most effective digital channels, use of content, reaching target audiences, etc.).

5. Develop and enhance collaborative working relationships with colleagues across the University to ensure College alignment with the University’s strategy and brand guidelines, whilst enhancing and developing high-quality content for leveraging web and external marketing campaigns.

6. Working closely with the College Multimedia Content team for the development and production of digital content through a variety of channels, (e.g., recruitment videos), to promote the College, across different markets. In addition to exploring future technologies that could assist in recruitment, conversion, and research communication strategies.

7. Produce regular reports to interpret web and digital media usage and trends using Google Analytics (and other analytics tools) to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and provide future marketing recommendations.

8. Responsible for reviewing and implementing A/B and multivariate testing to maximise performance and engagement of marketing campaigns.

9. To proactively review and manage the College PGT recruitment focused web pages, enhancing the user journey and experience whilst assisting in developing and publishing engaging content to attract relevant target audience.

10. Review and report on the in-year application performance across our portfolio of programmes, priority markets and understand how these relate to our internal targets

11. To oversee the planning and organising of marketing events to meet key strategic priorities and appropriate deadlines.

12. Contribute to the development of the College postgraduate portfolio (e.g., pricing, marketing, and student recruitment strategies); in addition to reviewing and analysing market and competitor data, survey results and admissions data to prepare reports and consider any future recommendations

13. To review and manage the production of any printed recruitment marketing materials, as required.

14. To manage and deliver conversion activities associated with team and offer holder, to support and meet the College’s conversion objectives.

15. Keep up to date with current changes and developments to enhance marketing communications.

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential:

A1 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 8 (Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4, Higher National Diploma) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.

A2 Detailed knowledge of digital products and campaign management including, SEO, paid search (including Google Adwords), social media, and Google Analytics

A3 Knowledge of lead generation marketing campaigns

Desirable

B1 Degree in a relevant subject, plus practical experience in a similar or related role

Skills

Essential:

C1 Proven ability to generate original and innovative ideas in delivering creative campaigns to meet strategic objectives.

C2 Excellent copy writing; print management, T4 or other web content management skills

C3 Project management and strong organisational skills with the ability to create and deliver on short term and medium to long term project goals.

C4 Proven ability to manage several complex tasks and projects simultaneously, meeting tight timescales whilst applying a high degree of accuracy.

C5 Influencing and negotiating skills – foster strong relationships with internal clients

C6 Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.

C7 Proven capability of working on a proactive basis and using own initiative

C8 Report writing skills – proven ability to create bespoke reports utilising specialist knowledge and evidence, applying a high level of attention to detail.

C9 Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills and an ability to engage with and build productive working relationships with colleagues.

Experience

Essential:

E1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills through personal development and progression in a similar related role(s)

E2 Experience in google analytics

E3 Experience of planning, launching, managing, optimising, and analysing paid digital marketing lead generation campaigns, using Google search, social media, native and display advertising.

E4 Experience of working independently, thinking analytically, and applying judgment.

E5 Experience of creating, implementing and flexing marketing plans to meet strategic objectives.

E6 Experience in optimising landing pages and user funnels, including using tools such as analytics, heatmapping, A/B testing

E7 Experience of delivering successful e-communications activity

Desirable:

F1 Experience of working in a Higher Education institution.

Terms and Conditions

Salary will be Grade 6, £32,332 – £36,024 per annum.

This post is full time and is to cover maternity leave for up to 12 months or until the substantive post holder returns.
